TaperSTEEL  - For the Design of Taper Steel Girders and Beams

TaperSteel is a powerful program that designs tapered steel girders and beams with level bottom chords and sloped top chords or with bottom and top chords that slope up to a high point at the peak.  Program works in both Imperial units or SI Metric.

Each Girder or Beam may be subjected to a uniform load, up to eight concentrated loads, three partial uniform loads, three partial triangular loads and end moments.  You specify the web and flange thicknesses, and the program computes the required flange width and bending moment at 10th points, and the shears and shear stresses at both ends.  The deflections at the mid span and the ridge are computed, along with the amount of horizontal spreading if the bottom flange is higher at the ridge than at the ends.

Simply put: Whether the beam varies in shape vertically, horizontally or both (i.e. truly variable moments of inertia), or whether the beam stands alone or part of a moment frame, TaperSteel with design it.
